I've been uploading photography periodically since I've arrived in northeastern Oregon for the summer, as the editing process is relatively short.
As for my current project, extending the Future Timeline I posted at the beginning of the year, things are progressing slowly. I've only really started hammering it out very recently, since so much research is needed to make everything flow together nicely.
I think the format of this next addition to the timeline will be significantly different than the linear, year-by-year format of my previous entries. Since I'll be specifically looking at the end of the brief First Recovery Period (2088-2101) for much of the next entries, a good snapshot at the Age of Factions, the trends and ideas will need much more explanation than a simple timeline can provide.
So, I've decided to work on a project that looks at the state of the world by fragmented region (probably continents) in the year 2101, just before the impact of 1.5 km wide asteroid that causes the Three Year Winter, significantly influencing global trends and events, but not being nearly as destructive as the Global War. These snapsnots will be accompanied by maps that I've yet to construct, but are essentially complete mentally.
I'm mostly done with the basic layout for North America at the end of the First Recovery Period, excepting parts of Central America.
Important nation states that have risen up in the wake of a fragmented U.S., Canada, and Mexico are as follows:
- The United Reformed Lands of America (URLA): basically the last vestiges of anything closely resembling the former U.S. republic before the Global War situated as a strip of territory in the Appalachian Mountains, isolated by death plains to the east and west, and the Rubble Coast to the south. URLA views itself as the government that should be in control of the former U.S. territory, and upon learning of other nation states beyond the death plains and savage "virgin lands" exerts an attitude of entitled colonialism, due to their belief that they represent the "true" America. URLA is among the most organized and powerful states in the remains of the U.S.A.
- The Kingdom of Adirona: a small constitutional monarchy made of early refugees of the war on the eastern seaboard that settled in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. The self-sufficient kingdom is completely isolated from their closest neighbors (URLA, Quebec, Canada Proper) by harrowing strips of virgin lands and death plains. Contact with the stubborn expansionism of URLA at the turn of the century causes friction between the nations.
- The Lord's Federation of Christian States: a rapidly expanding theocratic dictatorship that sprung from southern and western Montana, spreading westward into Idaho, Oregon, and Washington and eastward/southward across much of the Rocky Mountains in a small number of years. Early into the Dark Decade, Protestant Christian radical isolationists, many in number and influence due to the circumstances, acquired military might through abandoned and unused weapons and vehicles in mountain bases. Under the leadership of Grand Reverend Baxburg, the following took control of vast regions of the west, believing that armageddon was eminent (or in the process of happening), and that forceful conversion of the stray masses was a worthy mission. The large size and rapid expansion of the LFCS has led to control problems, especially in the rebellious Northern Idaho region. Non-believers and Gooyalar vorsusa followers are among the most persecuted groups under the militaristic Baxburg regime.
- The Great Mormon Republic: a self-contained constitutional republic in Utah, and parts of Wyoming, Nevada, and southern Idaho. Cradled in the expansionary path of the LFCS, the Great Mormon Republic has had many confrontations with the LFCS, losing some territory in Wyoming in recent years. Exhibiting features of a Mormon theocracy, but not exerting direct oppression on differing religious groups within in its borders (unlike the LFCS) is characteristic of the nation.
- Arida: an absolute dictatorship centered in Las Cruces, spreading across the southwest, hacked out of lands formerly abandoned after the bombing of Pheonix and Brazilian invasion during the Global War. Arida is currently encroaching on abandoned virgin lands to the west, and will eventually have a shot at reclaiming the death plains of southern California.
- The Vorsusan Empire (Marou-mulshan): a highly successful monarchical empire that has emerged in the American northwest due to the immigration of followers of the newly founded religion of Vorsusa from the Rubble Coast to the northwest. Once settled in the haven of the northwest, mostly spared during the Global War, Vorsusan civilization rapidly set foot and expanded from northwestern Oregon, up to coastal British Columbia, and south to northern California. Life and rule in the Vorsusan Empire is influenced by the evolving religion of Vorsusa, a creed derived from an important subculture movement of the past century, but persecution of other religions is not endorsed. The Empire shares borders with the LFCS, but has shown that its military might, and sheer population, is enough to keep Baxburg's expansion at bay. The youthful Empress Cardane I, crowned at the age of sixteen in 2086, is the Empire's first and current royal ruler.
- Alyeska: a nation state comprised of former Alaska, as well as parts of Yukon and British Columbia. Isolated even more than many parts of the former U.S., the region took governing into its own hands very early on in the Dark Decade. Alyeska is plagued by scarce population and crucial survival resources, but its borders aren't challenged by a crippled Canada Proper and a placid Vorsusan Empire.
- Canada Proper: the remains of Canada after the Global War and Dark Decade. The nation lost much governing control during the War, and was overwhelmed by American refugees fleeing from Dante bugs and bombings in the Mid-West and New England. At this time, Canada Proper is still reeling from the decades of recent hardship and concerned with simply keeping order in a nation full of endemics highly resentful of millions of American refugees, who brought the Dante diseases northwards with them into Canada.
- Quebec: the half-century old nation that broke away from Canada at the northeastern corner of the continent. Quebec was largely spared in the War, and currently claims neighboring parts of Canada Proper as part of Quebec. Canada Proper hasn't had the ability to act.
- The Republic of Oaxaca: a nation made up of the former Mexican state of Oaxaca and parts of Veracruz. The region was economically successful after the legalization of psychedelics in many countries (especially the U.S.), as Oaxaca served as a prime grower of mushrooms and peyote cactus. During the turmoil of the Dark Decade, Oaxaca split from Mexico without conflict as the former nation quickly fell apart.
- Anahuac: the final vestiges of former Mexico, comprised of a small patch of territory in Central Mexico surrounding Mexico City. After the periphery states were either absorbed by the death plains or dangerous virgin lands, Mexico collapsed to its core in an attempted to conserve the state. Anahuac's existence was tenuous for many years, but recent stability has prompted slow growth northwards into abandoned or unclaimed virgin lands.
- Akimpech: a small dictatorship in southern Mexico derived from the states of Campeche, Yucatan, Tabasco, and Chiapas. With the collapse of Mexico, Mayan activism took a strong foothold in the region, and eventually created a dominantly Mayan state that has been expanding into regions formerly held by Guatemala and Belize with relative ease.

How is your timeline going so far?

As for when I'll be posting more stuff, I don't really know. I keep adding things and extending concepts, so it may take a bit longer for me to finish than I was intending.

How is your timeline project going along? Still hitting some delays?
My project has finally taken off for me. Instead of the U.S. traveling through the 21st Century as the world's main superpower, it fragments into several nation-states during the late 2020s/early 2030s in the wake of a severe economic crisis and massive social transformation. The most prominent you will hear about are Arizona/California, the Republic of Texas, the Empire Federation, and Virginia Protectorate.
Hope to see your timeline soon.

However, this summer, I should have all the time in the world to work on it. Look for it sometime in July?
I like your take on the fate of the U.S. I constructed my timeline before the events of the economic crisis took place, so there was not a large hint of eminent downfall presented to me. Had I written my timeline in the fall, I probably would have taken a similar route, haha.
The fragmentation of the U.S. that occurs after the third world war in my timeline I think will be very different from your approach (which should be interesting).
The major kingdoms and nations emerging from the destruction of the late-21st century and earliest-22nd century consist of the Vorsusan Empire, Kingdom of Adirona, Reformed United Lands of America, Great Mormon Republic, and the Christian Federation (consisting of many Rocky Mountain states).

"It's like you're Aquaman...but on land...and only with butterflies."
I have several nations that rise from the ruins of the United States during the late 2020s/early 2030s, and Canada collapses shortly after due to close ties to the now non-existent US economy.
-Arizona
-Atlantic
-Colorado
-California Republic
-Cascadia
*Chesapeake
-Dakota
-Deseret
-Empire Federation
-Great Lakes Union
-Greater Canada
-Gulf Confederation/Dixie
-Kingdom of Hawaii
-Mississippi Federation
*Nevada Territory*
-Protectorate of Ontario
-Quebec
-Republic of Texas
-Virginia Protectorate
Chesapeake and the Nevada Territory are two hot spots of conflict among the divided nations. Chesapeake seceded from the Empire Federation, but the Empire tried to suppress the rebellion. The Virginia Protectorate supports Chesapeake as an independent country, and as a result, the Empire and Virginia Protectorate are on the verge of war.
Nevada is a dispute between the Mormon nation of Deseret and California Republic. The territory is divided into two entities: Eastern Sierra is given to California and consists of a narrow strip running from Reno to Las Vegas; and Nevada, which was annexed by Deseret.
The Republic of Texas and Arizona are probably the two biggest enemies of each other, mainly over the dispute of New Mexico. Arizona wants to have its border extended to the Rio Grande as a buffer between it and Texas, fearing an invasion from the east. Recently, Texas made a deal with Mexico to purchase the states of Coahuila and Chihauhua, and wants the state of Sonora as well. But Arizona wants Sonora to remain with Mexico so that Texas can't invade from the south. Thus, a mini-cold war ignites between them.
Kinda long explanation, sorry.
